As we all know, regulatory, accreditor, and other similar obligations pertain to many aspects of online learning. We also know that these obligations can sometimes be confusing, overlapping, and subject to change. Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a quick and easy way to assess your compliance efforts so you could concentrate on the work of providing meaningful learning experiences to students?

Well now there is: The Office of Online Education is proud to introduce the Distance Education Compliance Self Assessment! We developed this tool so that program leaders and administrators could quickly get a sense of their responsibilities under federal regulations, accreditor guidelines, state authorization agreements, and other similar frameworks that relate to or interact with online education. This brief survey allows users to get an overview of both their responsibilities and their efforts towards meeting them without having to sit through a presentation or schedule a consultation, all while having the ability to initiate contact with the Office of Online Education if any questions arise upon review. Upon completion, users can even download a PDF copy of the questions and their responses as a form of documentation! We’ll update and expand this survey as the regulatory environment demands, and as your suggestions and concerns guide us. We think this will be an incredibly helpful tool, but we can’t wait to hear YOU think, so check it out today and let us know!
